Position Overview

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Evansville District, operates a Food Pantry, which serves an average of 1000 families per month by providing them with a week’s supply of food and other household and hygiene products.  The Manager of the Food Pantry organizes and coordinates the volunteers, manages the assets, solicits food and monetary donations, and assists the Food Pantry Advisory Committee in formulating the policies and services of the Food Pantry.  The Manager reports to the Evansville District Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul through its Executive Director.

Principle Accountabilities

  1. Manage and motivate a workforce of approximately 80 volunteers.
  2. Solicit donations of food and monetary assistance.
  3. Manage inventory, account for expenditures, and prepare reports for the Evansville District Council.
  4. Coordinate with other area food pantries and agencies on procurement and services.
  5. Empower and collaborate with the Food Pantry Advisory Committee.
  6. Report periodically to the District Council, its President, and the Executive Director.

Required Skills and Abilities

  1. Leadership skills.
  2. Ability to attract volunteers and utilize their talents and abilities.
  3. Ability to speak to a variety of people ranging from donors to neighbors in need; bilingual ability would be a plus.
  4. Physical stamina would be helpful.
  5. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of computer programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
  6. Detail oriented.
  7. Ability to see the face of Christ in and be the face of Christ to our neighbors in need.
